answer: we do not have the opportunity to review and assess the whole text of the bill. meanwhile, it is unclear from publicly available information, how these new sweeping powers of british law enforcement, border and customs agencies will be applied in practice. in regard to whom and how will they be used? who and how will examine the level of “hostility” of foreign states’ activities? 08.06.2018 - embassy press officer’s reply to a media question concerning the publication of the commons foreign affairs committee’s report “the fco’s preparations for the 2018 world cup” q.: how would you comment on the contents of the report by the commons foreign affairs committee expressing concerns over safety and security of british fans at the 2018 world cup in russia? a.: unfortunately, this report is another attempt to fuel anti-russian sentiments on the eve of the world cup despite the fact that the british police and the fco have given positive assessments of their cooperation with russia’s law enforcement authorities on safety and security issues at the world cup. 07.06.2018 - photo: artem novichenkov speaks at the russian embassy on 7 june the prominent russian literature scholar artem novichenkov gave a lecture at the ambassador’s residence on the topic “dystopia: challenge of the present or fear for the future” 06.06.2018 - photo: ambassador alexander yakovenko meets professor anthony briggs on 6 june, russian language day, celebrated on the birthday of alexander pushkin, russian ambassador to the uk dr alexander yakovenko met the distinguished scholar of russian professor anthony briggs. 06.06.2018 - embassy press officer’s reply to a media question concerning the metropolitan police statement on the “skripals case” question: how would you comment on the new statement by the metropolitan police regarding the inquiry into the salisbury poisoning? answer: we have carefully studied the statement of the metropolitan police, who are in charge of the investigation. once again we have to note that the embassy receives updates of the investigation from media reports and not via official channels. the british authorities have been persistently ignoring our requests, and there have been many, and refusing cooperation and direct contacts with us. 06.06.2018 - media statement: meeting of the brics ministers of foreign affairs / international relations, 4 june 2018, pretoria, south africa the ministers of foreign affairs/international relations of the federative republic of brazil, the russian federation, the republic of india, the people’s republic of china and the republic of south africa, met on 4 june 2018 in pretoria, south africa. 06.06.2018 - speech of ambassador yakovenko at the rbcc business forum on 5 june 2018 your royal highness, mr chairman, ladies and gentlemen, i am glad to welcome all the participants of the annual business forum of the russo-british chamber of commerce. it is an honor to address this important economic conference. definitely, its significance is increasing as we experience political and economic turbulence at different levels. 04.06.2018 - embassy press officer’s reply to a question concerning the current state of the investigation of the poisoning of sergei and yulia skripal q.:today is exactly three months since mr sergei skripal and ms yulia skripal were poisoned in salisbury. how would you assess the current state of cooperation with british authorities on this matter? a.: unfortunately, it is impossible to assess cooperation with the uk on the salisbury poisoning as it is simply non-existent. 01.06.2018 - embassy press officer answers media question on briefing for mps’ staff heading to russia for the world cup q: today “politicshome” reported a recent briefing for mps’ staff heading to the fifa world cup in russia in private capacity. parliamentary staff were told to be on high alert and ordered to leave work mobile phones and laptops at home. they were also advised that their hotel rooms would likely be searched by russian intelligence agents. do you have a comment? a: we can only regret that authorities in britain are still seeking to stoke tension around the forthcoming world cup in russia – despite british police praising cooperation with the russian colleagues ahead of the tournament. the briefing at the parliament resembles “commissions on trips abroad” which existed in the soviet union, even though it was rather based on the advice of a biased mp for foreign secretary boris johnson prior to his visit to moscow last december. 01.06.2018 - embassy press officer’s reply to a media question concerning uk chemical weapons initiative q: what is the position of russia regarding the uk request to convene a special conference of the states parties to the chemical weapons convention? a: we strongly oppose this initiative of a number of western countries. this idea is untimely and harmful to the opcw. the suggested agenda item – “support for the global ban on the use of chemical weapons” is absolutely misleading. the initiators of the conference are doing little to conceal the fact that they aim to use it for stoking anti-syrian and anti-russian sentiment over the alleged use of toxic chemicals in syrian douma and in salisbury. they are so anxious to press ahead with their narrative that they don’t even bother to wait for the results of the opcw investigation of the incident in douma and the uk police investigation of the salisbury incident. solid evidence is, sadly, not in demand. 31.05.2018 - russian embassy press officer replies to media question regarding the staged “arkady babchenko murder” q: how could you comment the staged “murder” of the russian journalist arkady babchenko in kiev? a: as you know, the russian mfa has already commented on this anti-russian provocation, aimed to mislead the world community, which showed vivid concern over the alleged murder of a media personality in ukraine. unfortunately, we have seen quite a few staged incidents recently, proactively supported not only by the discredited west-backed kiev regime. for example, the british authorities were quick to publicize the false allegations of chemical attacks by the syrian government in khan sheikhun and douma. 31.05.2018 - official reply of the embassy to the question of the media with regard to the rescheduling of the inquest into the death of alexander perepilichny question: what is the reason for the delay of the inquest into the death of alexander perepilichny, previously scheduled for 29 may? answer: the embassy is closely following the twists and turns of the inquest into the death of a russian businessman a.perepelichny, which has been conducted since 2012. the current delay has been explained by the fact that the judge is waiting for the concluded home office review into the 14 deaths allegedly linked to the russian state, including that of mr perepilichny. the second reason is the british side’s ongoing negotiations with the us government about the disclosure of information relevant to the coroner’s investigation, as well as consideration of public interest immunity applications lodged by the uk government in regards to these matters. the politically motivated preparation of a clearly anti-russian report, as well as negotiations with american secret services, all spanning beyond the court’s control, raise questions of inquest dependency on the political order. clearly, the uk secret services are in control of the investigation and unbalanced judicial proceedings are in demand. in such a state of affairs, one cannot set hopes too high on an equitable and objective investigation into the death of a russian citizen. we would like to remind that the initial post-mortem examinations, conducted by the experts from the police and the uk home office, concluded that the death was non-suspicious. later, representatives of william browder (the “hermitage capital” fund) were included in the inquest as interested persons. side note: william browder was convicted in absentia in russia for committing serious financial crimes, which explains his obvious motivation for any anti-russian activity. various theories were immediately thrown in, including: “poisoning of the russian with the toxic gelsemium plant”, “poisoning with sorrel soup”, “alleged involvement of russian officials and/or organized criminal group”. in the meantime, attempts were made to discredit the initial results of the police investigation and the widow of a.perepelichny. in 2016, the uk government has already classified, in other words, covered-up relevant materials from the interested persons. the idea behind the gimmickry of tossing unsupported theories in court, together with the de-facto cover-up of the materials related to a.perepelichny, possessed by the british secret services, is quite clear: transform the theory of non-suspicious death into another conspiracy theory of a state-sponsored murder. familiar british secret services modus operandi, traces of which can be seen in similar high-profile cases involving russian citizens in the uk. 30.05.2018 - embassy press officer’s reply to a media question concerning the statements of british medics on the treatment of sergei and yulia skripal question: how could you comment on the statements of the salisbury district hospital staff on bbc “newsnight” concerning the clinical care provided for sergei and yulia skripal? answer: we have carefully studied the statements of the british medical staff who treated sergei and yulia skripal. unfortunately, they have still not provided any answers to our questions. we have to note yet again that the embassy is learning the details of the treatment of the two russian citizens from media reports and not from british authorities, despite having filed many official requests; not to mention that this is happening almost three months since the incident. moreover, the question about the use of antidote in the treatment previously raised with british authorities remains unanswered – the medics carefully walked around it saying only that they had used “combinations of drugs” and received advice from the porton down secret chemical weapons laboratory. 30.05.2018 - photo: brentwood imperial youth band visits russian embassy on 30 may 2018 the brentwood imperial youth band gave a performance at the russian embassy to mark their upcoming participation in the kremlin military tattoo "spasskaya tower". the musicians played a selection of british and russian tunes and were greeted by ambassador alexander yakovenko. the event was organized with the help of the rossotrudnichestvo mission. all messages twitter news mfa_russia rt @presidencymv: president conveys #russiaday greetings to the president and prime minister of russia https://t.co/lxlm6jji7d https://t.c… 12 june mfa_russia many good wishes receive we today. including these from @israel https://t.co/k4bvlqrep1 12 june mfa_russia @mfa_srilanka @rusembsrilanka @rusembsrilankar @mid_rf @slinrussia thank you for your kind greetings! 12 june russianembassy #russia2018quiz 77. who was the top scorer in the third round of caf qualifiers, scoring five of egypt’s eight goal… https://t.co/xbw5f6jcfv 12 june russianembassy #russia2018quiz 76. in the song “three lions” is the line, “i still see that tackle by moore”. which tackle does it… https://t.co/txzcuy3rvw 12 june russianembassy #russia2018quiz 75. name the host city which was hardly inhabitable just 100 years ago due to malaria, when mosquit… https://t.co/niu1fql1v0 12 june russianembassy watch world cup transport guide: fans will enjoy free public transport on match days and free trains between host c… https://t.co/9yltrasicb 12 june mfa_russia rt @a_garifullina: the @fifaworldcup is one of the most anticipated sporting events this year and i am so excited to be performing alongsid… 12 june mfa_russia rt @robbiewilliams: very excited to be returning to russia to perform at the opening of the @fifaworldcup - tune in early on thursday for a… 12 june amb_yakovenko fm lavrov: berlin talks on ukraine in “normandy format” were useful, but questions remain on kiev’s commitment to m… https://t.co/5yxjzvpq2n 12 june russianembassy rt @amb_yakovenko: over 600 000 foreign fans (including 10k from britain) and 60 official delegations travel to russia for #fifa18worldcup.… 12 june amb_yakovenko over 600 000 foreign fans (including 10k from britain) and 60 official delegations travel to russia for… https://t.co/jka5xtxb8l 12 june russianembassy rt @amb_yakovenko: today we celebrate #russiaday!
